I took a class in college that talked about the subtle ways society still reinforces racism, and one example was how beauty products marketed to non-white people often still use the lightest-skinned non-white models in their advertising. That really widened my perspective and helped me understand that people from other ethnic backgrounds may experience pressure or exclusion in ways I had never personally experienced myself. I’ve always personally wanted darker skin, so it’s interesting how my experience could be so opposite. Great read!
